“Baltic Cup” International Dance Festival is one of the biggest international dance competitions in Baltic Sea region. In recognition of merits of “Jantar” Dance Club of Elbląg in the development of world dance movement, International Dance Sport Federation granted “Jantar” the right to organize “Baltic Cup” International Dance Festival in 2000. The originator of the event has been Tor Floysvik from Norway, who gathered partners from Poland, Sweden and Lithuania. The festival and its dancers have been hosted so far in Elbląg, Kaunas, Goetteborg and Tallin. The host of the first “Baltic Cup” was Elbląg and the festival stayed in Elbląg thus inscribing permanently in the calendar of dance ventures. For three days the best pairs compete under the supervision of the international board of adjudicators consisting of members from 13 countries. Dancers compete in two styles and in many age categories. During the festival there are also 2 ranking competitions organized: IDSF Open Latin and IDSF International Open Standard. The tournament has become tradition in the world of dancers. Its popularity may be proved by the fact that each edition is attended by dancers from 12 European countries. Year by year we extend our venture. We organize workshops and seminars conducted by outstanding experts. The aim of these activities is to educate the participants of our programmes. Each time performances of dance stars add splendour to the festival’s agenda. In Elbląg one could admire Marcus and Karen Hilton from Great Britain, who won Standard Dance World Championships for 17 times, “LOTOS – Jantar” Standard Formation from Elbląg, who won World Championships in 1999, Lech and Anna Romankiewicz – multiple Standard Style Polish Champions, Wojciech and Barbara Przemieniecki – Latin Style Polish Champions, Italian pair Michelle Bonsignori and Monica Baldasseroni – Standard Dance Runner-ups. Show performed professional couples world vice-champions - Michał Malitowski and Joanne Leunis, formation V2 and for the first time in Poland Fabio Selmi and Simona Fancello. This year is a jubilee of the Festival – for ten years we have been meeting with you during Baltic Cup. On this occasion we have prepared many attractions and surprises for you – one of them is going to be show performed by word champions – Erica Luna and Georgia Ambarian from the United States. We hope that performance will move you into magic world of dance and give you many impressions and emotions. We wish fruitful preparation to dance rivalry to all the participants. We wish you best results and the nicest memories from Elbląg. |
